like: conjoined twins.
i find them truly fascinating. i'm so close to my sibs, especially my brother, but can you imagine what it would be like to have another human sharing your body? i think that kind of closeness unimaginable to most human beings. also there's a story from greek mythology that explains why there are men and women. when the world was created male and female were cojoined, everyone had a twin. everyone was also content. so content that they didn't do anything and the gods were displeased. the gods decided to cleave apart the twins in order that they would have to spend their lifetimes trying to find eachother and wouldn't wallow in their contentment. that's the story of soul mates. :D
don't like: red meat
grew up on a farm/ranch. had a conversation with a cow one day and realized cows don't want to be eaten any more than i want to be eaten or any animal for that matter. i felt ashamed of myself and stopped eating meat.
suprises: the dicotomy between having 'faithless' on your list and having 'hope'
i kind of see the two going together and not necessarily in a religious sense. faith is not intrinsically grafted to religion nor is hope; yet i do see the two (i'm repeating myself i get back to my point) as being different sides of a coin of sorts. if you can hope in some thing then you also a sense of faith where your optimism is concerned.
don't understand: mr. make-believe's stir-fry.
sounds tastee, is it served with rice?
missing: sidewalk art.
i pulled this one from my list, how can anyone not like sidewalk art? that's what concrete is for!

Date: 2004-06-21 05:51 pm (UTC)Red meat has a dual meaning. Admittedly, I do eat it and crave it occasionally, but I have gone through the guilt thing myself, which kept me from eating anything made of pork for several years in my teens. I just can't not eat meat for a long time...my body kinda tells me it needs it. The second meaning is the comic strip, Red Meat by Max Cannon. If you don't know it, please check it out -- I know you'd love it!
Faithless is a band, if that explains anything.~;) I like your contemplations on it all though...maybe I'll dive into that a little later when I have more time.
Ohh...I so should have that listed too! I LOVE sidewalk art! There is a sidewalk-chalk festival here every year that I always go to. I missed it last year, which about wrecked me! I am hoping to make it this year...one of my user pics is a sidewalk chalk piece I did two years ago, as a matter of fact. YAY! I will definitely have to add that. Thanks!

duh.
faithless, i figured they were a music group after i hit post. are they on projekt's label?

Faithless is pretty far away from projekt, to tell you the truth. It's a band out of Great Britain, where Dido began her career, actually. They combine several genres of music in their albums, mostly sticking to a combination between trip-hop and different layers of techno. Many songs have rap in them, but it is very intellectual and tolerable - if you like anything by Tricky, you'll likely be keen to them.
If you have any kind of music software, hunt down the song "Insomnia" by Faithless. Oooohh...hmmm...*brain starts twitching with ideas*
heh
yeah. look 'em up. I know it's not really your style, but their album Reverence is one of my top ten favs of all time.
almost forgot!

This man has always been very nice to me, and a joy to converse with. He also makes a bad-ass stir-fry with Thai hot sauce and yes, rice. You have to have a stomach for the hot sauce though...it's meeeean, but damn is it tasty!

Date: 2004-06-21 05:57 pm (UTC)2. Not in that spooky-vampire way, just fun to nibble, really.~;)
3. Vulnerability shows me a person's "human"ness...I find it harder to relate to people who sit too high on their pedestals, pretending to be immune and ambivolent. I like knowing a person feels, and isn't afraid to be who they are. The trick to revealing this is that it creates a sort of vulnerability that is often mistaken for weakness; I believe it a sign of strength, to be so in-tune with your emotions. (wow, I can ramble...)
4. Zooch = when you are doing something and everything and nothing and then ZOOCH! You're caught in a web, a beam that sucks your brain in so fast and so deeply that nothing else exists for a while. Zooches are pure e-veel and entirely delightful!
5. ahhhh....yes yes yes. I shall have to add this. I want your explaination though, per favore!

3. Death, You seem like a person that is amazed with the things in everday life, the simple things make you happy so its a suprising intrest
4. zooches
5. Pickled Brothers Sideshow you seem to like the freaks and its a local sideshow of someone you met and my hubby. Ok so thats a ploy to get more people to like his show, but it also suprises me that you don't have any other David Lynch movies listed.

Date: 2004-06-22 10:16 am (UTC)2. I guess I am just too fascinated by the tales from other lands to not like them, not to mention some of the most beautiful films I have ever seen (visual) have been out of Italy and Germany. My favorite film ever is a German film called "The Princess and the Warrior." It's just amazing.
3.Death - it's not in a morbid sense that I am fascinated by it. Well, I don't know...it's more an interest in others and their reactions to it, I guess. Ancient civilizations and their rituals, each individual coping mechanism a person has, each person's approach to the subject. It is a part of life in as much as it is the end to life, and I guess I just don't want to put up a barrier in my comprehension, if that makes any sense. I may have to post on this later...got my brain reeling, and I don't feel like I am articulating this well at all.
4. I gave this answer earlier to someone, but I will give it to you now: Zooch = when you are doing something and everything and nothing and then ZOOCH! You're caught in a web, a beam that sucks your brain in so fast and so deeply that nothing else exists for a while. Zooches are pure e-veel and entirely delightful!
5. I've only seen a couple David Lynch films, unfortunately. I have some soundtracks and other musical things he's done (yep, he composes~8), but overall I haven't seen much of his work outside of Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway. I saw a few short films he's done with certain types of film - an old projector project *blinks a minute* wherein each director was only allowed 30 seconds to convey their idea with this specific camera - his was, by far, the most amazing, visually as well as conceptually.
As for your hubby's troop, it is quite the curiosity to me, but I haven't seen him in action, so...get his arse up here to perform already!~;) I will gladly spread the good word once I know its true meaning!

Date: 2004-06-21 09:37 pm (UTC)2. Death. it's too final.
3. Red Meat. If it's the food, I thought you were a veggie (then again, that's what I get for thinking). If it's the comic, I'm not surprised.
4. Self mockery. You mean like total, or just playful jabs?
5. Erin's boobs, duh.
well hello!
Date: 2004-06-22 10:21 am (UTC)2. I want to know why you look at it as final, if I may. I am going to post about this interest in the coming days, to clear up why I am "interested" in it.
3. Not a vegetarian, although I do love my fruits and veggies bunches! I just crave red meat every so often, and cannot imagine not giving into the craving. It does have the dual meaning though -- I adore Max Cannon.~8)
4. Just playful...gave up the self-degradation a long time ago. I generally avoid negative interests...all the ones I have listed have a positivity to them in one way or another.
5. LOL I've never seen them, so how can I list them as an interest?

3. HA HA! Super-Bondage Grover is a stuffed-animal I have hanging by manicles from my canope. It's merely Super-Grover with a nosering, a chainmail bikini, and a devil's tail.~8)
4. A certain friend of mine from high school who's incredibly reclusive and avoids pretty much any and all contact with other people (because he truly does despise most people) was living with another friend, The Lemonmerchant (lj user="lemonmerchant">), and was often referred to as "Mr. Make-Believe," because many people knew about The Lemonmerchant's roommate, but very few people ever actually met/ saw him.
This man has always been very nice to me, and a joy to converse with. He's incredibly intelligent, musically talented, and his smarmy words re: the world overall always bring a smile to my face. He also makes a bad-ass stir-fry with Thai hot sauce. You have to have a stomach for the hot sauce though ...it's meeeean, but damn is it tasty!
As for "Android's Ego," well, you'd have to get to know
5. *giggles* good point.

Date: 2004-06-24 02:45 pm (UTC)(A)1. b-movies. I miss old late night tv when they used to show old black and white b-movies. My favorites, the film noire detective or suspense thrillers. I especially enjoy bad or so so movies with famous actors in it. or sometimes italian westerns where all the actors are and spoke italian except for the one or two amercian actors in it using ther own voice, but dubbed by themselves and you can hear the studio ambient noise, ver sureal and they'd always have a scantly clad italian starlet in them.
(Q)2. Pick one thing from my interests list that you don't like, and explain why.
(A)2. ok, i found three, all related: being bitten, piercings and tattoos. of course i mean for me. i'm not into pain i get enough pain from my arthritis, my heart and my emotions, purposefully doing something to inflict pain on myself is something i'm just not into, its just not my thing. OUCH!
(Q)3. Pick one thing from my interests list that surprises you, and explain why.
(A)3. again three: death, death in vegas, six feet under. i've always seen you as a person full of life and ambitions. although you're known as the darksiren, which emulates these dark qualities, i see you as "dawn" which emulates the abundant amount of other qualities and interests you have. especially, in music.
(Q)4. Pick one thing from my interests list that you don't understand, and I'll tell you about it.
(A)4. zooches. i have no clue what that means.
(Q)5. Tell me one thing that's not on my interests list that should be.
(A)5. you've seemed to have covered them all in the 149 except cooking ie: your potato salad is the bomb and one of the many reasons i'm sorry i missed your party the other night. your kite flying party/picnics are more my style.

Date: 2004-06-24 03:34 pm (UTC)2. I won't deny my moderate version of masochistic tendencies, however the biting is not meant to be very painful - it's more of a playful nibbling than anything.
as for the body modifications, none of them were about the pain so much as the symbolism. I'll gladly go over each and evey detail of the 9 piercings and 7 tats with you IRL, but it's too much to type right now.
3. death in vegas = a band
six feet under = a really awesome, darkly comical show on HBO.
death = go here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/thedarksiren/480454.html?thread=1946822#t1946822) for a brief explaination. I am planning on doing a post to explain it further, but for now it'll do.
Also, I have a very dark, grim side to me that very few people ever see, which is more of a blessing than anything. I am usually more chipper and up-beat, but I have my moments, as anyone does.
4. Look in the same place as the death thing. Zooches are there.~8)
5. I do love cooking, but it's not really an *interest* of mine. I don't get to do it enough to truly stay interested, and I certainly don't read much on it. I am glad you like what you've had though - I do take pride in my tater-salad and tacos! And it's all good about the party - I understand.~8)
