which is kinda funny to think about, considering the first song is about St. Catherine of Siena. This is the info I have on her:

Profile: Youngest child in a large family. At the age of 6 she had a vision in which Jesus appeared and blessed her. Her parents wanted her to marry, but she became a Dominican tertiary. Mystic. Stigmatist. Received a vision in which she was in a mystical marriage with Christ, and the Infant Christ presented her with a wedding ring. Counselor to Pope Gregory XI and Pope Urban VI. Proclaimed Doctor of the Church on 4 October 1970.

Born 25 March 1347 at Siena, Tuscany, Italy

Died 29 April 1380 of a mysterious and painful illness that came on without notice, and was never properly diagnosed.

Canonized July 1461 by Pope Pius II

Name Meaning "pure one"

Patronage against fire, bodily ills, diocese of Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA, Europe, fire prevention, firefighters, illness, Italy, miscarriages, nurses, nursing services, people ridiculed for their piety, sexual temptation, sick people, sickness, Siena Italy, temptations

Representation: cross; crown of thorns; heart; lily; ring; stigmata

Oh, and here's her head, enshrined in the Dominican church in Siena, IT:

And I thought seeing St. Mark's larynx and tongue in Venice was fascinating....

This song just took on such new meaning.
You have *no* idea.

Okay, so that is just fucking creepy. Are you serious that that is her head and not a cast? And the larynx and tongue? That reminds me of the first time I heard of the church (I forgot which one)… I was wrong. wikipedia'd it, and this is what I found:

I had to do research on her for the song I'm singing, and at least three websites said her head is actually there in Siena. I'll ask my voice prof tomorrow. She just got back from Siena, and told me she planned on going to the church, or had been there, or something.

But yes, I saw the larynx/ vocal chords and tongue of St. Mark in Venice. St. Mark's Catherdral is AMAZING, but yeah...that shite was fuzzucked-up!!

Makes ya wonder how the Catholics can get away with this kinda thing, but most typical people would be considered freaks/ disgusting for doing it otherwise.

I'll have to look into John's head...*smirks*...once school's over for the quarter.

So the way I am reading that is, she is the patron saint against fire, bodily ills, the doicese of Allentown PA, and so on down the list.

Good thing, too, because there are a lot of people who need protection against Allentown.

However, if that is not what was intended, and the term "against" only applies once, or ends once you get to "Allentown" on the list -- which would make sense, since I'm not certain how many people are in need of saintly intervention "against" nurses and firefighters, this would also mean that she is the saint to whom one would pray for sickness and sexual temptation.

Oh man... I am confused. I need a saint to pray to protect me from firefighters and to invite sexual temptation, but I'm worried this is not the right one.

No saints are necessary for the latter. Just say the word, and I'll tempt you...~;9
