Tuesday started my fabulous week with a wonderful and tasty spaghetti dinner hosted by Ms.
tete6871.
tiktiktok,
wraptboy,
bindrune, and
yosoylaloba joined for the feast of garlicy goodness, along with some wonderful wine and beer, and even more wonderful company. The kitties were too adorable (as always~;) and Tete was too gracious a hostess. Thank you so much for the dinner, hon. Oh! And for the AWESOME boots! She gave me these 3/4 calf leather riding boots that didn't fit her, and they are fabulous! I needed them badly too, so they are greatly appreciated!
Despite my many attempts to make plans with people, they have been faltered to some extent in the past week by my loving car Fairuza, who has decided she doesn't like the taste of her brake fluid anymore, and is thus spitting it out in regular intervals. NOT GOOD, as you can imagine. I will be trading her for another one of my father's vehicles tomorrow, should everything go as planned. I think it's her way of telling me, "Yeah, fuck you too, Dawn," because she knows I'm tossing her before I go back to school on Sunday.
My birthday felt like it began on the 29th when
tiktiktok took me to his work holiday party with him, introduced me to the majority of the people he works with, and always had one hand nearby for when The Shy took over me. It was great watching everyone talk and interact...a group of really happy people enjoying their time together in a fancy-shmancy restaurant (we went to the Cheesecake Factory in Legacy Village), eating and drinking and laughing. I didn't feel at all out of place, which was what I worried about -- yes, I do worry about such things on occasion. Who doesn't? -- and I felt so comfortable being at his side...
He then took me to a dive-esque jazz-dinner-bar place called ZaZa where we continued to imbibe very large glasses of wine and ramble and laugh and just simply enjoy one another. It was awesome.
Then, yesterday morning I woke to the sweetest voice telling me in between shnuggles and smiles, "Happy birthday, Dawn."
~*~glows~*~
When I got home,
bindrune and
wraptboy had the glorious notion to head to Sal's for artery-clogging goodness and coffee swirls. While we were there, they told the waitress, Juaffa (I have no idea how to spell her name, really, but that's my guess. It sounds like the word "waffle," only with an "uh" sound at the end instead of the "le.") it was my 30th, and she proceeded to play "The Birthday Song" on one of the li'l jukeboxes. I have never felt as though I were sitting in Twin Peaks so much as I did in those few minutes. It was great!
We dropped
wraptboy off at his studio and proceeded in our saga of shoe-hunting. We'd already tried for a couple hours the other day, but both
bindrune and I had our fill of shopping and society that first time. This time, we followed the advice of
yosoylaloba and
tiktiktok and headed for Dallas Shoes. I found a pair of boots that almost fit well, but there were questionable fittings at the top and center of them, so I put them back and all but gave up hope.
We decided last-minute to venture into Randall Park Mall, a first for me, and
bindrune said she felt the good shoe ju-ju. Man, was she ever ON! I found a great pair of Bongo shoes, exactly like hers actually, for a nice sale price of $25 at Kauffmans. It was awesome! No more wet feet!!! YAY!
We got back to Tremont and picked
wraptboy up from his studio after looking at all the new art he's done...it's all quite lovely. More crazy babydolls, angels, collage-like configurations...I like it when his head 'splodes like that, yup yup.
After a bit of emotional trauma and 'sploding of my own noodle, I wound up in Stow with my parents, sister Debra and Leah, tha latter of whom truly made my night. We went to Applebee's for dinner, where Leah and I made silly faces and showed each other "see-food," had thumb-wars and arm-wrestled...even Deb, who was in an EXTRAORDINARILY bad mood when the night began, couldn't help but laugh at Leah, and enjoy the evening with family.
Got home last night at about 11:55, my favorite peeps hanging out in Jawndomay, wishing me final birfendayee happiness. I curled up to a very warm and comfy
tiktiktok, and slept quite soundly until he had to leave this morning. I really didn't want him to go...~{8/
Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. Every wish and thoughtful sentiment was greatly appreciated, and yesterday was by far one of the best birthdays I've had in a long time. I am happy my 20's are over...I hear the 30's go far better overall. ~8)
Went thrifting today with
bindrune and
wraptboy this morning, in hopes of finding some supah-shwankeh threads for this evening's festivities. We were all pretty successful, and I cannot wait to see everyone tonight!
Since we've been home, special punch has been concocted, and there are 131 Jello Shots taking up the majority of our refridgerator at the moment.
wraptboy made the world's BEST chocolate cake yesterday, but, despite it being my real birthday, I kept my hands off so that it could be assaulted this evening at the party. Also, Ms.
yosoylaloba is here, and her spicy wine is about to take heat...
OH! And HUGE THANK YOU's to The Universe for the unusually warm weather today/ tonight. OUr porch will be open tonight for outdoor celebrations as much as the inside....YAY!!!
for now, I am attacking Dawndom, the only part of Jawndomay still in disarray (YAY EDT!~;P) and then a shower for yours-truly.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, fun-filled, and SAFE New Year's celebration this evening, no matter where you are! I send good ju-ju to you all, and thank you for being a part of my life!
