Nov. 9th, 2004 11:47 pmMy audition went very well, I think.
I just went in, smiled and said hello, and then went right into it.
Didn't say my name, or the name of the piece.
I later wondered if I should have, but then, I've auditioned for all these people before, and they knew the piece I was doing since my preliminary audition. No sweat lost on it, really.
My day went very well too. Oh, and in fact, my body is feeling better since I decided to invest in a locker at the music school. Don't ask me why I didn't do this sooner...I have no idea.
I'm noticing myself coming across details I've overlooked in the past few months, and although I am happy I have noticed them, I am bummed that many of them have probably had an impact on various parts of my school life. Ah well...it's been a survival thing mostly. I think that's what I'll remember this quarter as...the quarter I simply survived.
I perform two pieces tomorrow for my studio class. I am excited...this is when I get to show off my feathers, so to speak.
Speaking of feathers, I noted one tonight as I got ready for bed. Kate was playing Loreena McKennit's "Samhain Night," a song I sang for some friends of mine at their wedding a while back. I began singing along, not even really thinking about it. Suddenly I realized that it was much easier to sing than it had been at their wedding. It then occured to me just how much my range has changed over the past several years...I am happy about this for a number of reasons, not the least of which is simply, I don't fight off the stress of stretching my vocal chords, so singing is less of a chore in such songs. Definitely cool.
Anyway, I am going to bed. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THE GOOD JU-JU!!! It really did help. ~8)
And now, I leave you with

Ya do the Hokey-Pokey and ya turn yourself around...
