I dreamt

of ice-cream wars
where even cartoons participated

and my sister was so small again
dressing up in my mother's lingerie
even if it said "Barbie" on it
I made her pull on a light jacket-thing, just so she'd be a lady.
~8)

and then there was a ferret
who kept diving into my mother's fish tank
and eating all the fish
the bubbles about his nose
were far too adorable
and I remembered an otter
swimming the back-stroke
somewhere near a natural Bridge.

I woke up smiling.
They were good, fun dreams.

Kind of a nice change from the usual freakish ones.
Not that I mind those
mind you
But it's nice to see people laughing in my dreams
and to laugh with them
enough to wake myself by doing so.

I've known about this for a while, but for whatever reason I haven't shared the info. I'm flighty like that, I guess.

Anyway, it's the Writers of the Future contest, held by L. Ron Hubbard & co. It's a quarterly contest which can win you money, exposure, etc. More info on the website: http://www.writersofthefuture.com/

They are mostly looking for Sci-fi/ horror/ fantasy shtuff, although they do have some rules to be looked over with regard to the horror. I suppose this is why I have yet to submit anything -- they decide whether or not something is too violent. Needless to say, many of my stories have some pretty graphic depictions in them, or at least the ones I'd feel were worth sending in, anyway.

But so yeah...go, be seen, be read, win money. You have four chances a year to do this...
