There are a great deal of references throughout the book, many that are obviously real, others that you question if they are BS or not. This was one reference that wraptboy took upon himself to investigate.
I dunno...I was in a screwy mood last night when I wrote it. Just kind of a f'd up pic, if you ask me. Kind of symbolic of hopelessness I think. Or maybe even horror...eh. Whatever. I am just full of shite anyway.
I just found the book The Magus (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0440351626/qid=1031794420/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/103-9043574-7117469) at the store today. People say the same thing about it
you know, Kevin Carter (and his dramatic story) were the topic used by Paul O'Neill (lyricist for Savatage and Trans-Siberian Orchestra) that was used by Savatage for their most recent album, Poets and Madmen. and that very photo was mentioned poetically in that tale, just how far driven he was beyond emotions because of his passions, his attempts to blot it out with painkillers, etc.
thanks for sharing that. i know i probably have a different reaction to it than most would, but i appreciate the exposure of it all the same.
you cannot un-see something, and you cannot forget. (which is also a "moral" of the album mentioned.)
"In your life, could you carry on? Could you never think about it till, in time, you start to doubt it? Then you close your eyes - is it really gone? How, in truth, can you defend her if you're really not remembering?
No regrets, if you just forget; if the memory is lenient, you can find it most convenient. So you let it fade, till it's very vague; just a silhouette of shadows, but the shadows are still lingering. - from the song, "Cantations"
