Experiential...somethin'...
Sep. 26th, 2004 08:44 pmHad a rather great brunch today. I am so happy that I asked the Nelson people about their yogurt. I had been afraid to eat it for fear of aspartame infiltration...it's super-sneaky like that. Anyway, it's just good ol' fashioned yogurt...well, yogurt, anyway.
I read a good bit of A Scanner Darkly during brunch, and hated to put the thing down. If I hadn't had so much to do, I might've found a shady tree to sit under and read. Alas, I had MUCH to do, and really, I still do. It's been a weekend like that...lots of studying, writing, researching. I really haven't rehearsed as much as I should. I wish my keyboard were here sometimes, regardless of the lack of space in my room. It would help me to work on my piano skills a little more than I do.
I really should work on some Italian tonight. I am simply beat though. I don't know why...I slept a good amount yesterday and today, although still not eight hours. I don't think I've gotten eight full hours of sleep since I moved here, really. Even with the melatonin, I have to get up to do things, so I have no say in it unless I go to bed at insanely early times...might have to start doing that.
I feel bad too. I was actually invited to hang out a couple times this weekend, but I was just too busy to do so. SHITE! I need to call
inthecouch before it gets too late. Hmm...maybe I can convince him to meet me at Donkey or Perks and then I can hang out yet still work a little on the Italian shtuff...
*sigh* no, I need to get up at the butt-crack of dawn tomorrow.
Notice: any jokes referencing my body at this juncture will warrant a thorough mutilation of your upper lip. Thank you, drive through.
All the dining halls closed early tonight, with the exception of the Nelson pizza/ sub place. Now, don't get me wrong, I like pizza all right and subs too, but damn, it sucks when you're trying to eat relatively healthy and that's all that's available to you. I really only wanted a little salad, maybe a piece of fruit and a cup of coffee. But no, pizza & Dr. Pepper it was. I had to wait a few minutes for my order to come up, and had some odd encounters.
First, as I found my waiting-spot against a column, a boy stood before me, smiled hugely and said hello. I was all smiles because it is really a rare occurance here. I said hello back, and asked him how his day was. He smiled bigger, and said, "Fine, thanks. Have a good night!" as he walked away.
Yay nice people.

But then, THEN, a "flippy-skirt girl," as my hallmate Laura has coined these sorts *smirks* literally pushed herself and her huge-as-fuck bookback between me and the column, chit-chatting away with her boyfriends. Nevermind the fact she could have stepped two more feet and gone around the column and me without causing me to all but fall.
Pet-peeve #1 a la Dawndom: rudeness.
Fucking HATED her then! I turned, all but snarling because she ruined a very pleasant mood right then and there...it doesn't make sense, right, but it happens, regardless of the rationale.
"Excuse YOU," I said, quite bitterly.
The flippy-skirt girl turned to face me with her eyes ready to roll, lips turned upward in disgust as only a snotty little flippy-skirt girl can do, eyebrows doing The Wave across her orange-crispy forehead.
Then she looked up at me. Yes, the Nubbinstein was considerably taller than this girl, having worn 3" shtompy-boots to tower over all the flip-flop kids. Her attitude suddenly turned into a worried look, which prompted me to tell her that it was the courteous thing to do, to say "excuse me" when passing by someone, particularly as rudely as she had done.
Just then my order came up.
"Here, let me demonstrate," I said, reaching right in front of her to grab my pizza.
"EXCUSE ME," I said, smiled a most smarmy smile, and walked out to head for my dorm.
I grinned the whole way back.
It may seem a bit...extreme, maybe even childish, but I really REALLY hate rude people. It's a huge trigger for me, however, and I don't think it's that damn hard to say "excuse me" when intruding upon another person's space.
Walking back, I crunched through the path of broken Rolling Rock bottles along the walkway, and began noticing all the trash from the weekend. I wondered who cleans that up, and thought about the tree branch I saw yesterday, walking with Kate to eat dinner. Someone in a drunken moment of "DUH!" decided to climb out on a branch that obviously wouldn't hold anything over forty pounds. It was lying on the ground below the walkway, and I remember telling Kate how I hoped they broke something on themselves, just to make up for breaking the tree like that. I also knew this branch housed a large, cozy bird's nest before it's falling below.
Eh, so not motivated.
Not even a little.

In the good news department, I received a notification stating that my financial aid refund will be coming in the next three days, which means I can BUY BOOKS!!! YAY! And, in the off-chance that the FANs did their math correctly and thus, my billing, I will get more than I thought I would be getting back, so yeah...books, peanut butter, popcorn (I only have a bag left~8( ) and maybe I'll even treat myself to some French press coffee...I've been really fucking good about not spending money at all, so I think I deserve something as frivolous as that, dammit.
OK, yeah. Call Brenden. Finish homework. Pass out.
6Am will come too soon.

Date: 2004-09-27 06:33 pm (UTC)Anyway, the movie is kinda in limbo on the ruining path. Reasons: the main character will be played by Mr. No-talent-whatsoever-himself, Keanu Reeves. Then again, it's got Winona Rider and a lot of other really good actors on the bill...we'll see.
Oh, and yeah...accidents...heh.
