What is this world coming to?!!
Aug. 23rd, 2004 01:49 pmOK, so I don't generally repost something that someone on my friends list posts, but
annabelevil posted this article about how Munch's "The Scream" was stolen in broad daylight from Oslow. Sad and weird, considering how it is so popular...even the "authorities" said it probably won't be sold, not even on the black market, because of its notoriety.
Then, upon looking at the other comments to this posting of hers, I found a different link...
No, not on the black market.
How about, instead, in broad e-light???!!!!
Thatz right...unless it's a damn good hoax, which I am not beyond believing...
That's right...Ebay.
Maybe it's just me, but umm, can we say...DOI??!!!
What is this world coming to when great thieves can't even get money in a brilliant manner?
*sigh*
So disappointing...
please let me know if anyone sees/ hears about them getting caught. This ought to be a riot.

Date: 2004-08-23 12:07 pm (UTC)It wouldn't be the first time someone made a joke auction out of a reported theft from the news, either.

Date: 2004-08-23 12:10 pm (UTC)still, wouldn't surprise me in the least if the thieves did just this.

I appreciate your doing this, however.

Date: 2004-08-24 01:05 pm (UTC)Just a concerned art-lover, who was looking out for the interest of the piece. No harm in that!

Date: 2004-08-23 01:14 pm (UTC)I just can't believe how many people have bid on the silly thing already. So, not only are these "thieves" stupid, but the buyers are as big nimrods, if not moreso! I mean, let's just say it is the real thing...umm, hellooo??? You will be traced via Ebay! DUH!!!
*laughs*
Yay for the stupid-heads!

Date: 2004-08-23 02:18 pm (UTC)i don't think stupid is the right word for the thieves, after all, they did get away with it. stupid would be right word for the security guards and everyone else for that matter because we got duped and this is just funny. all this for the sake of art. there should always be this much controversy. i wonder who the thieves were... it would be grand if it was just a couple of unknown artists doing this as a conceptual preformance piece to make a statement about art. i wish...
