Last night was...interesting. I really wanted to go somewhere new, interesting, fun. I wanted people-energy. Fun people energy. Of course, I didn't get out of work till 9:30, which put a damper on parts of my plans.

So, I got home by 10ish. Got to talking to the roomie, returned some calls, one to [livejournal.com profile] bindrune, who said she would go with me to the Bindlestiff circus thingy that [livejournal.com profile] sharpshinyclaws had mentioned. Of course, in accordance with EDT, we didn't leave Jawndomay till 11:30-11:45, and feared that by the time we got to the Beachland (with vague directions, c/o [livejournal.com profile] haloed13...thank you for your help, sweetie! I am not complaining!)we figured it would have ended. So, we wound up heading out to the li'l cafe place on E185th for the drumming circle.

It was nice being the rider instead of the driver. I like to drive, but considering the pain in my lower body as of late, driving starts to aggravate the pain more. I ventured to take a 1/4 of flexoril, just to help numb it over yet remain functional. We stopped for coffee at the Phoenix, then off to the drumming circle.

It was to my understanding that people we knew would wind up there eventually, but, to our dismay, no one we knew was there. So, we sat, watching the waif-hippy girls dance and twitch and flail about the circle as others drummed. I think there was one other girl drumming, but mostly men.

Initially I used the dumbec, as [livejournal.com profile] bindrune was not up to it. The initial beat was simple, easy to follow, which was good for my unconditioned hands. As time progressed, however, the beats became more complex, and well, I do not drum that much, even when the dumbec was mine I didn't. I never connected with the drum though...I am not good with metal so much as wood, and the dumbec I was using was metal. (there is a jimbe, carved in dark, beautiful wood at City Buddha...omfg!) This guy sitting next to me asked if my "friend would like a drum?" I told him no, but thank you.

Eventually, as I sat there fumbling, [livejournal.com profile] bindrune having wandered off in search of a toilet, the very-tan guy sitting next to me asked me if i had a smoke. I told him no, I do not smoke, sorry. He smiled and shrugged, standing to get one something out of his pocket. I turned back to the dumbec, and he nudged me. It was a piece of gum, Orbit gum, to be exact. I don't chew gum much anymore, but this is my gum of choice. I thanked him graciously, introducing myself. He must have spoken his name to me three, four times...Lyle, Kyle, Miles...I have no idea what it was, actually. It was just too loud for me to hear him, and I felt like an ass after saying "huh?" several times. I just smiled and said, "Nice to meet you."

People left, going through our seating arrangements, messing up our focus. [livejournal.com profile] bindrune and I moved to this weird couch thingy, which literally ate our souls, and the very-tan guy-whose-name-I-didn't-get introduced himself to [livejournal.com profile] bindrune. After, I mentioned to her that I didn't get his name...turns out she didn't either, and thought he'd said "Bile."

Things began to lose momentum, mostly because this guy with a face like a neanderthal went postal on his drum and well, everyone else just couldn't ignore his, umm, beat?

As we left, everyone yelled "goodnight," and we replied the same back. The very-tan-man-with-no-name followed us out, saying he needed air anyway. It was then I realized just how short he was, that his hands were very small, as were his feet. Even without my shoes on I would have stood about an inch above him.

Sad to admit such silly things, I mean that I actually think about them, but well, I like tall guys with big hands and deep eyes. I can't really explain it. I have dated a few shorter guys, but eh. Just wasn't as into it as I could have been.

My fetishes are mine, dammit!
LOL

He told us goodnight, calling her "Kel," and then, funny enough, asking me my name again. I think he said goodnight, drive safely, see you soon...blah blah blah. Just as we were getting ready to leave, some blonde guy jumped in front of the car, yelling and being absurd. We laughed, totally startled and bewildered, and drove without aim.

[livejournal.com profile] bindrune took me to a few remote places, accidentally driving into a not-so-safe part of town and hurriedly getting back in a safe direction. I kept wishing it wasn't so late, that places were open till 4AM instead of 2:30. But everything was nearing closing time, and we drove and drove till Jawndomay sounded good again.

Came home, took the pup outside, came inside and crashed.
Not nearly as exciting as I had hoped, but at least my ego was boosted.

And now?

Off to the vet with the puppy, then to get pretty colors for my hair. I think tonight I might split the time between Whiskey and the Chamber. I soooo need people energy. I kinda want to dance, kinda want to chill and chat...I should call David K. up about doing music. He said he might want to use me for an upcoming show. That would be awesome.

shtuff shtuff shtuff.
Tomorrow, Leahbug's birfday partay *bounce!* After that, I think I may head out to Thursdays for once. I do not know where it is, exactly, but I am good with directions. We'll see what happens.
