I take it as: "give people a bit of our heart"= kindness, compassion, caring, respect; rather than giving just words/opinions/etc, give something emotionally human. It does make me feel happier/better! That's my angle on it.... :D

unfortunately, my upbringing had it's faults. i was taught to be afraid of people who were different than ones self. it took me a while, but i grew out of that. obviously, or i would've never had a black girlfriend and many of the good friends i now have.
