two weeks later...
Feb. 25th, 2004 03:14 amyeah yeah yeah.
I warned y'all I'd be late to my own friggin' funeral...
So here it is, my setlist from Night Gallery III - A Winter's Masquerade...I was completely MPD, so take notes:
Set 1
Situation - Yaz
Windowlicker - Aphex Twin
Dub Me Crazy - Boom Boom satellites
Thing - Meg Lee Chin
Parallels - Fragment
Fear (Lunasol remix) - Sarah McLachlan
Skin Against Skin - Dj Krush
Love Again - Baxter
So Alive - Love & Rockets
Set 2
*Love Song (remix) - The Cure
The Little Fugue in B minor - J.S. Bach
Aria - Mediaeval Baebes
Kiss Them For Me - Siousxie & the Banshees
Let's Dance - David Bowie
Masquerade - Berlin
Cut - Miranda Sex Garden
The Conductor (Oakenfold remix) - The Faint
Piledriver (grayed-out summer mix) - amoebaassassin
:::this is when the CD deck decided to take a nap. Seriously. It said, "SLEEP.":::
Set 3
Muffy's On Prozac - Kirkendahl Void
Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes
Papua New Guinea - Future Sound of London
*Inertia Creeps - Massive Attack
Bastet - Natacha Atlas
As the Rush Comes - Motorcycle Boy
Play Dead - Bjork
We Come One - Faithless
:::small break...:::
*So What? - Ministry
*editor's note: this, according to Loon and Creep, was the theme song of the night, and insanely appropriate when it came on. Loon just said, "Play some fucking Ministry or something, would ya?" I don't think he thought I had any...he was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. And then the sound booth was a-shakin' booties and smarm-shots amok! YAY!
Set 4
Gorecki - Lamb
The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove - Dead Can Dance
Flowers Become Screens - Delerium
Touched - V.A.S.T.
*Pretty When You Cry - V.A.S.T.

Each set, for the most part, was set up to lead toward the up-coming band, and/ or trail from the last one. I also added in a lot of love/ relationship-type songs because it was the day before V-day. I had some people I wished to dedicate songs to, but they were never around when I played them. Typical. ~;P Otherwise, I figured everyone was in back, not listening, so I played whatever I felt like playing.
I was more proud this night than I have been in a long time DJing. My mixing has gotten steadily better, and I did some ZANEY mixes that night, somehow managing to make them work and not trainwreck every time. I had the best company between Loon & Creep. They were SOOO funny, and taught me some tricks about sound and lighting that I will treasure as useful in the future.
Also, my surgeon's mask seemed to cause a great deal of chatter. I was called a twisted doctor, compared to Hannibal Lecter...it was super-fun, especially considering that I only wore it to keep from breathing in all the smoke. LOL
Next gig, Abbasso on the 23rd or 24th of April. It's an art show again, and there will be some musicians playing, but it's going to be super-intimate, mostly acoustic shtuff. If all goes well, I will likely sing at this event as well, and my own shtuff no less! OMG...no opera?!!! tee!hee!
For now, my shoulders hurt, as do my jaw and neck. I so need to take that massage certificate to be used...*sigh*

If you tell me that's you, then I owe you spicy mac and cheese. I've never seen you with those bangs, cheek makeup, or dangling earrings.

Date: 2004-02-25 12:22 pm (UTC)That pic, along with this blue one (which isn't actually blue, but photosuite lets me play sometimes) and the laughing one where I am wearing the red leopard-print, all came from a modeling shoot I did about three years ago. Needless to say it didn't get me very far, but it's nice to have the pics to play with.
Next time we see each other, I'll do my best to pull my hair out of my face...there's apparently more there to see than people realize. Besides, I don't think I have ever worn my hair up around you. I am doing that more these days, just because my bangs have grown out and are long enough to pull back.
and yeah, the earrings and blush...that happens here and there. Mostly there...I like all my earrings in, and am not fond of gold. The pearl-drop earrings in that pic have a gold setting.
