1. What was your first Halloween costume?

The first one I remember was this crazy little witch costume my mother put me in when I was about three. I had long curly green and blue hair, a big witch nose and a silly wand...I thought I could curse the world and get candy for being the best witch ever! There's a picture in my parent's house of this...too silly-cute to believe. You'd have to see it.

2. What was your best costume and why?

I dressed up as Delerium from The Sandman comics several years ago, down to the multi-colored contacts. It was so much fun, and I played her role to the hilt! Mad-fun!

3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat?

Umm, no. Cannot say as I have. Always been treated in some way or another.~;)

4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.)

Probably the biggest ones for me have been the yearly pumpkin-carving gathering and eating a pomegranate with someone I adore in the park. Both have been broken this year though...*sniffles*

5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend!

Oh jeebus...

well, there is a road called The Colonial Parkway that runs through Yorktown and Jamestown & Williamsburg VA...basically, along the Colonial areas (imagine!). For many years, authorities would find cars with couples dead inside them, showing no signs of struggle or resistance. People were just killed, either by strangulation or carving. Always couples though.

Some friends of mine and I decided, being the sound-minded intelligent fifteen and sixteen year olds that we were, that we would see if we could bait the Parkway Killer one summer. It began with us all driving a few miles apart from each other, two by two, starting in Williamsburg and usually ending a few miles past yorktown. Needless to say, we never saw or experienced anything in this manner, although we did find a creepy-as-hell abandoned building on the shoreway with satanic graffiti on the walls and skinned animals rotting in the corners. VA is for lovers....HA HA!

Anyway, a few months into the fall of my sixteenth year, I jumped on the Parkway to take my friend Butch home to Williamsburg. As we went along on our merry way, we decided to be idiots and smoke some weed. Wouldn't you know it, a cop begins following us, and follows us for MILES. I never broke the speed limit, and since it is a two-lane road, no fancy driving was necessary. Just forward, and eventually we came to the end of the parkway in Williamsburg where the cop turned around and went back the other direction. I remember finding the car a bit curious, however, being the first unmarked police car I had ever seen.

Several weeks later, there was an article in the newspapers explaining that if anyone was being followed by an unmarked vehicle on the parkway, even if the police lights came on, they had the right to drive to the end of the parkway where it was well-lit and populated. They began to believe it was someone posing as a police officer, hence the zero-struggle factors.

We didn't drive on the parkway much after that.

*shrugs*

Still gives me the heeby-jeebies, even if it's not such an incredible story. True though...true.
