And now for some Hindu Wisdom (?)
Sep. 25th, 2003 08:11 am"I was born from the nectar of immortality as the primordial horse and as Indra's noble elephant. Among men, I am the king.
Among weapons I am the thunderbolt. I am Kamadhuk, the cow that fulfills all desires; I am Kandarpa, the power of sex, and Vasuki, the king of snakes.
-Bhagavad Gita 10:27-28"
OK, so I get these little tid-bits every day, just something to supposedly "inspire" me, right?
Forgive me for saying this, and I really don't mean to sound like I am being judgemental or whatever, but, umm, "the cow that fulfills all desires?"
*snickers*
I am afraid I missed what was "wise" about this specific message.
Any and all translations will be most appreciated.

I've had the Bhagavad Gita on my bookshelf for a number of years in the "meaning to read it" shelf, but I just haven't gotten to it yet so I can't help ya.
Cross refference.

Interestingly, this whole thing reminded me of a story I heard about a Christian crusader who was doing work in Africa sometime in the late 1800's, early 1900's. He told a tribe about Christ, about the way to Heaven, and the glories that awaited all those who were saved.
needless to say, the tribe was entranced, and they chattered amongst themselves excitedly.
Then the wise chief who, up to this point, had sat silently, watching and contemplating all that the Christian had said, asked very calmly," Do cows go to this Heaven as well?"
The missionary had no response, and stumbled on his words before he finally said he did not know.
The tribe thanked him for his stories, and essentially told him he could keep his Heaven and his God all for himself.
Yeah, I like that story lots.

Hope you find your sense of humor...maybe you could ask Peter Pan where he found his shadow and he will point you on the right path? Just a thought...~;)
