So I was thinking that I might bring a demo along with me to Detroit and see if I can slip it in to Mr. Leeb next Tuesday. I think I would wet myself is he ever said, "Sure, why not."

I want opinions though. My demo, after all, is a couple years old now. Let me know your honest-to-gawd opinions, OK?

No worries...I can take it!!!

*squinches her eyeballs shut and curls into a protective ball*

If I get more negative than positives, I may hold off. I want to make a good impression, and honestly, my voice has come miles since any of these songs were recorded. However, it just seems like a good time to take action right now, when everything seems a-stir, like a cheetah ready to pounce.

lemme know.
thanks.

I've been backstage with a few bands. They always get tons of demos from people, and they place them in the pile. If they're on a tour bus, and bored, they sometimes wittle through it a bit; if something really stands out, they'll usually keep playing it a bit. If that ever leads to anything, I don't know; but they do pick some things apart.

This is all Swedish metal bands; I don't know how universal it is (if at all); other bands could be (and probably are) completely different.

I think your demo stuff is very good. I'd give them one with liner notes about how old it is, and a mention that it's from before you started voice training. It won't hurt your chances if they listen to it, and if they never manage to get around to it, it definitely won't hurt you. And I emphasize; make some good liner notes. It's what they sit and look at while they listen to it, if they like it even a little. People often don't have anything good in there, if you do, you stick out - nothing *fancy*, but something about you, who you are, what you want. But then, I don't really know what kind of material they'd be looking for; I *could* be way off. I'm just going on my gut feel here; aim for the stars, babe, and you might end up in the treetops!

And make good liner notes - even if it's just a folded letter sheet with some writing and one of your drawings. ;)

I should hope you like my demo shtuff...if it weren't for your mad-skills, I wouldn't have them in MP3 format! LOL

I am such a nimrod when it comes to computers...

Thanks for the ideas, tho'. I appreciate the input a lot.

I have a few burned copies if you want one. The bonus to them is that they include never-released Lestat demos from right before we broke up (except for on MP3.com, where they are located online). The downer is that there's also a bunch of other shtuff on them.

I am mostly looking at three songs. Like I said, they are several years old now (the youngest is almost three now!!!) but I haven't done any solo work since then due to school and working so much.

damn I need to create something. I'm going bonkers.

You have got to get some more recent stuff out there. The three songs sound amazing, of course. I absolutely love your voice. But, as Paul put into words when I played them for him, they feel like you're holding back. When we've heard you sing in person, there's such a vitality to your singing... I'm not certain how to describe it.
