A Call for Assistance
Aug. 5th, 2002 11:14 amWuddah-wuddah-hooooooo!!!!
I am so happy right now! I just got some great news and well, I am excited and enthralled and add-your-own-exclamation. Just read on and you shall understand!!!
This upcoming fall semester I plan on immersing myself in all the core music classes - theory, ear training, etc. I had been trying desparately to get ahold of the music department chairman for about two weeks to ask him a favor...see, to take theory and ear training, a student must first take music reading skills, which, of course, makes sense. The thing is, I wanted to take it all at the same time, so I needed department approval.
Well, Mr. Scott finally returned my call this morning, and he said he had no problems with my just skipping the reading skills class so long as I pass the placement test.
*bounce!*
This is great great news! I have been holding off on applying to some major universities because I need these core classes to even be considered for them.
Now, the thing that I need is this: review.
Yes, I can read music to a degree, but there are some things I just do not recall (I graduated high school in '93, and didn't even start college till 2000...been a while!) What I am asking is if anyone out there can recommend any good books for reviewing basic sight-reading.
Any and all input would be much appreciated!
