RE: The Local Cleveland Music thing
May. 14th, 2002 12:30 pmThis started out as a reply, but then I realized that I was ranting, and well, I thought it better to post it in my journal than to throw it at someone else.
Here goes...
Mr. F. has helped me in many many ways over the past several years, so I try to return the favor occasionally. And, quite honestly, he was very excited about trading ideas.
I went last Monday because I hadn't heard of any of the other groups meeting as of late, and I haven't had a Monday off in half a year too, so it seemed like a good opportunity. so I figured this one was a good place to go and get my foot back in *the scene*, seeing as I haven't really played in a band in almost 4 years, and I have no other connections at this point. I constantly get people going, "Oh my GAWD! I love your voice! We should do something!" and you know what?
They float away with the feathers they talked.
Fucknuggets.
I was bummed that the one Monday I had off in close to six months produced four people. I was really looking forward to seeing
spinmistress,
android23, David K., the lot of people I truly think of as respectable people in music around here...it would have been nice to hear thoughts/ ideas outside of a noisy club filled with clovesmoke.
As for the other *groups* or whatever...
To my understanding, Neodig is nil anyway. I was under the impression that since Martyr Complex died, or at least split up, and since I hadn't heard anything on DarkCleveland, Neodig was dead too.
As for Synthcleveland...it seems like that died once the album came to fruition.
Just sad...maybe I should just keep my thoughts to myself, but then, that's all I ever do anyway so fuck it.
Sorry...not mad at anyone in particular. Just having a bad day, and like the fact that I was trying to be helpful caused people to get all itchy kinda bumms me out.
Teaches me to be nice.
grr.

I will, however, always keep you in mind when a female voice of your range will be needed ;)...
I may be working on something this summer with L., and I'd like to see how well you guys would harmonize.
I thought you were going to listen to Mark Shea???

I don't really care what you were going out to do...I knew you had other things to do, and I wasn't knocking you for it at all. I was just disappointed at the turn-out in general; I understand people's frustrations with other's trying to say, "HEY! Look at MY idea!" But I really felt this was an honest effort on the part of Chris, and also those who showed up. We had high hopes, and they fell down.
I am just disgruntled with the world anyway, so people knocking something a good friend was trying to do in an honest fashion pushed a few buttons in me. I may have read into their thoughts a bit, but hey, it's online...no tone of voice to help me understand more clearly. Hell, I don't think I'd get it even then...my people skills seem to be diminishing.
Gah! I am babbling...
It's all good is basically what I am saying.
Oh, and thanx for the thoughts...I appreciate them.
