Snuffy's Suicide Attempts Poor baby, life is rough for you, huh? Date: 2002-12-03 11:32 am (UTC)What many kids today don't know is that in the beginning, Snuffy was completely invisible to all grown-ups except for Big Bird. Many scenes of comedy were made from this little fact as the big yellow bird and the kids attempted to convinced the unbelieving adults as to Snuffy's existence.
The show's producers changed this sometime in either the eighties or nineties (my memory is foggy on this) because they wanted to discourage children from hiding things like being abused from grown-ups because they'd think adults wouldn't believe them any more than the Sesame Street adults believed Big Bird.
