First off, lemme tell you...the eight hours of sleep I had last night are blissful things indeed.

Last night's excursion to see Red Dragon was much more successful than I thought it would be on such short notice. [livejournal.com profile] bindrune met up with me in Jawndomay, and we made it to the theater by ten-ish. Inside, we met up with [livejournal.com profile] theshadowsfall, [livejournal.com profile] darkpixie6942, and the wonderful deep-voiced Kevin. Hugs were had by all, and we sat chatting in wait.

Soon, [livejournal.com profile] theswede showed up with an [livejournal.com profile] animate by his side. Intros, bathroom breaks...in walks [livejournal.com profile] jjjiii, [livejournal.com profile] angelhipster and their friend Amy. More idle chat, waiting for eternal iced mochas, cell phones unleashed and in walks [livejournal.com profile] wraptboy, sans a [livejournal.com profile] taewakan, as we expected. He reassured us that Tae would be in shortly.

Off we went to find a row of thirteen seats...our plans are foiled by [livejournal.com profile] theswede and [livejournal.com profile] animate: they sit behind us.

After everyone settled, and I barely got a hello to Mr. Tae, we were submerged in movie trailers and advertisements. I think we lost 40 minutes in those. At least they were good ones...Lord of the Rings, Gangs of New York. It could have been worse, but damn.

Red Dragon was pretty much all I wanted it to be.I won't reveal too much about it because I don't want to ruin it for others, but Anthony Hopkins was as brilliant as ever! Hannibal is such an amazing character, the most perfect antihero - yet Hopkins pulls him off as though Hannibal were just another personality. Of course, watching things unfold, watching Mr. Hopkins' expressions and body language, I see where a friend, whom I will not name, gets much of his demeanor, and I am smily for it.

The ending was pretty much the only part that was different from the book, and it was just subtle really. I cannot complain, for it was everything I'd hoped they would do...Ralph Fiennes, BTW, did a spectacular job as Francis Dolarhyde, and Norton - he was good as Graham too, although admittedly, I thought of Graham as being a bit older when I read the book. Nonetheless, all actors did a fantastic job, with perhaps, the exception of Norton's character-wife; I recognized her, but well, she wasn't nearly as strong as the character could have been. Of course, that could have just been script, *shrugs*

I was giddy through the whole thing, giggling at totally the wrong times because of my joy that they held so true to the book (after what they did to Hannibal, I was a bit worried they would destroy this one as well).

One of the finer points of the evening was watching [livejournal.com profile] bindrune make use of my worry-ring...I think it got a friction burn!~;P

The night ended with Tae disappearing (you still owe me a hug, dammit!), [livejournal.com profile] jjjiii hurrying to get some sleep before work, and the rest of us eventually dispersing without a common goal...I was sad, what with the humongous mocha [livejournal.com profile] bindrune supplied me with! BOIOIOIINGG!! I think I could have stayed up till sunrise.

Wound up back home at Jawndomay with [livejournal.com profile] wraptboy and [livejournal.com profile] bindrune, talking on the porch and basking in the fierce winds that made the trees wave hello. [livejournal.com profile] bindrune wasn't feeling so hot, so she left and I sat talking with the roomie.

Eventually, [livejournal.com profile] bladernr and [livejournal.com profile] sharpshinyclaws came wandering from the molten tavern and we said our hellos, exchanged more hugs (yay!) and then bodies became chilled and decided to go home.

That was my Friday.

Oh! and I found out that [livejournal.com profile] theshadowsfall is getting me an early December-day (Christmas/ b-day) gift: I will be seeing Tori Amos next month with him! *bounce!* I truly have the most thoughtful, beautiful friends in the world...I don't think I could ever possibly explain how greatful I am for having them in my life.

Let's just say that when I feel the warmth of the sun shine down on my face, it warms my heart not because of it's heat alone, but because it reminds of the light I have coming from the lot of you.~8D

Thank you all for coming out last night. It thrilled me to no end spending time with you. Not to mention, I got my thirteen hugs for the day...making it a truly healthy day.

Amy is [livejournal.com profile] piquancy, just so you know.

I had to leave early for an 8am class, not work.

I liked the movie, although in the final scene the super-strong killer should have easily broken through the flimsy door like it was made of rice paper. Aside from that one beef, the movie was excellent. I do have to say that the timing was impossibly tight for some of the events to happen as portrayed, but it made for a more suspenseful plot.

Thankies for the tip on [livejournal.com profile] piquancy.

Either way, I was sad you had to go.~8/

And I agree...Dolarhyde should have been able to blast through that door. Of course, that was one of the pieces that changed from the book. The ending in the book has him attack Graham on the beach.
