So I am writing and writing and writing, revealing, giving to you all, my friends here on LJ, pieces and portions nummy and tasty and and and...

"Goodbye!"

EFFING AOHELL!!!

*sigh*

Nothing like losing an hour's worth of writing because somebody decided to call on the telephone (effing dial-up).

It would have been worth forgetting the dishes for another day...but now? I just feel like I wasted an hour. Oh well. I guess I'll go to work now.

If you download the LJ client, you can probably solve that problem.

Another way to solve it is to sign on to AOL, and then open Internet Explorer up. Use IE to surf the web, so that when AOL goes down, you won't lose anything as it closes, since AOL will have no effect on any outside software you're using to surf the web, like IE. :)

Happy Surfing!

Yeah, what she said. Also, if you have call waiting, make sure it's turned off before signing on. I don't remember how to do that, but I'm sure there is a AOL FAQ that will tell you.

You can go into AOL options and select it to dial *70 before it dials up to AOL. That will turn off call waiting.

I use the Semagic LJ client.. and it saves my drafts every 5 or 10 seconds (I set it to be that often), so that if I am disconnected, or have some sort of bizarre spontaneous reboot (which has happened more than you'd think), my post is still there.

!) Typing anything directly into a web form is data suicide. Don't do it.

2) There's an application on every windows computer called notepad.exe. Type there first, then copy/paste into the web form. If it fails to go through, you've got it backed up in the notepad.exe window. You can even save it to your hard drive if you want to.

No more lost bits, ever!
