Memoirs of a Geisha was immensely beautiful on a million levels. I won't spoil it, because it's really too lovely to spoil. You simply must see it for your own eyes.

However, I've fallen in love with the name "Sayuri," meaning "lily."

[livejournal.com profile] wraptboy kept telling me I'd love the book. He said i still would, so I'll try to get it when I'm in Athens again. Of course, reading anything other than schoolbooks during a quarter is a challenge!~8P

me too! me too! To what they said above. :) I read it a while ago so I will have forgotten what happens because my mind is like a sieve.
If you like that kind of movie, you might like some other movies I've seen in the past year through Netflix.
I really liked The Pillow Book for the story, and House of Flying Daggers and Hero for the beautiful imagery.

Thanks for the recommendations! I love beautiful movies, both visually and emotionally.

Have you seen Titus with Anthony Hopkins? Aside from the strength of the story itself, not to mention the actors in it, the costuming and filming were simply stunning!

Oh, and btw...again, speaking of beautiful movies, I LOVE your icon!!!

Titus was very powerful. Though I really loved it for that very reason, I had to get up and start tidying the room in the middle of it because the scene where they discover the poor girl with her hands and tounge cut off really disturbed me. Whoa. Got chills just thinking about it.
I got my icon from lj user mrbnatural. Check out the icon community memories too, it is really easy to find a favorite genre.

Titus ... great movie ... loved the fusion of the old Greek symbology with modern war themes and then the crazy fanciful costuming ... loved it!! Also glad to hear MOG was just as beautiful as it look in the previews, can't wait to see it!
