Not SFW...lots of cussing, as Foamy is definitely a foul-mouthed critter, but damn if it ain't gospel right now.

Date: 2005-09-03 04:14 pm (UTC)my niece and her husband lived in new orleans. they got out as soon as they saw that they were in the path of the storm. they are/were percussionists in new orleans based orchestras and symphonies. they took with them one expensive drum, important paper work, insurance, birth certificates etc. thier two cats and split. they ar now on their way to celveland to stay at my place, actually, downstairs with my sister their mom and mom-in-law.
they have no jobs, no lively-hood most of their instruments and music were left behind. the local orchestras and symphonies are no more and they basically have to start all over some where else.
they are fortunate they have their lives. they may go back in a few weeks to see if anything is salvageable from their place, but they doubt it, they saw photos of their area and it is all under water, anywhere from waste to roof high.
the loss of life and lively-hoods are enormous. the people from the area are truly homeless refugees, who need a new place to start over. only the property owners may try to rebuild. most others are abandoning new orleans forever.
my prayers and well wishes them all.
