After long avoiding the subject, I finally made a dentist appointment yesterday. Miracles never cease in my life either, it seems; I got in today.
but first, last night I had to fight the insomnia demons again, taking a muscle relaxer and getting lost in Harry Potter for a spell. Of course, by the time Harry and his crew had jumped through the trap door, my teeth were hurting so badly I just laid down and lost myself in meditation-induced slumber.
Strange strange dreams, and none that I can easily recollect.
Hrmph!
I did try to post a birfday wish to
ikkus before i retired, but AOHell wouldn't let me. Oh well, the thought was there.
So yeah. The dentist.
I got there by 9:40...five minutes to spare.
Three pages of paperwork-questionaire thingers, and the soundtrack to Grease to make it surreal. Incidentally, the song, "Hand Jive" was playing while I filled in the paperwork. I found it strangely amusing that as the tempo increased, my rate of writing did as well.
I then got sucked into the pages of my book. Of course, the occasional flashes of Olivia Newton-John saying, "Tell me about it, STUD!" made reading quite difficult.
My dentist's name is Dr. Ben Kim. nice fellow, very matter-of-fact. His assistant, a fairly plain young lady with a strong southern accent, was like a bad telemarketer, trying to get me to bleach my teeth and buy a tongue scraper and tongue gel. Tongue gel. WTF??? I told her I had survived just fine brushing my tongue this long, thank you.
Things were actually much better than I had expected them to be. I do have a cavity in the tooth that I broke off chomping gum while I DJ'd at TYR last year. The good news is that there is not an infection yet. The bad news is that I need a root canal. The worst news? I need $200 for the initial surgery. ugh!
I think I can do it. I need to figure bills out a bit, but I think I should be OK. I just need to pay better attention to my money. Mmm..nothing like a good dose of painful reality to brighten one's day!~8D
Actually, it's a great day. Been reading a lot, talked with my friend Amy, ate some Maruchan Instant Lunch (had a craving heh) and well, now I am sleepy. BUT! I refuse to give in! HA!
Although a nap DOES sound like heaven right now...
OH! And those of you who have been bugging me about my *other* issues. I made an appointment with a GYN in September. Hopefully there won't be any major problems, like the cysts (which I know I have now, BTW) will resolve themselves and I won't need to take any icky meds or worse, have surgery.
So there! See?
I AM taking care of me!
Orange you glad?
Which reminds me of the silly factoid i read somewhere about how the word orange does not rhyme with anything in English. I think I shall find a word eventually, or perhaps even make one up. We shall see!!!
