Since 1936, The Washington Redskins have successfully predicted the results of every presidential election. If the red skins won their last home game before the election the incumbent President was reelected. If they lost the Challenger won the election. I am happy to announce that this past Sunday, The Washington Redskins LOST their last home-game before the election. I know it is all a bunch of unscientific superstition, but I will take anything I can get that points to a Kerry/Edwards win tomorrow.
I actually heard about this somewhere else last week, maybe on the radio??? I dunno...it was the first time I hoped the Redskins lost in my entire life though, superstition or not.
Today, a last-minute awareness e-mail on Ohio's Issue 1 from Jim Buccini:
Just wanted to pass this information along from my friend Faith...This is just one last-minute email to ask you all to be familiar with one of the issues on the ballot: State issue #1.
There are two parts to this issue. The first prohibits marriage between anyone other than one man and one woman. Funny thing is, THERE IS ALREADY A LAW IN PLACE PROHIBITING THIS...THIS PART OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT IS REDUNDANT AND UNNECESSARY!...not to mention DISCRIMINATORY!
The second portion of the amendment prohibits "the state and its political subdivisions" from recognizing a legal status for "unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the designs, qualities, significance or effect of marriage". Talk about nebulous! THIS CLAUSE IS AIMED AT ALL COUPLES, HETEROSEXUAL AND HOMOSEXUAL. IT WILL PROHIBIT ANY STATE ENTITIES (INCLUDING HOSPITALS, UNIVERSITIES, MUNICIPALITIES) FROM PROVIDING BENEFITS TO ANYONE WHO IS NOT LEGALLY MARRIED. IT WILL HURT OUR STATE'S ECONOMY AND OPEN THE DOOR FOR COUNTLESS LAWSUITS (LET'S MAKE THE LAWYERS EVEN RICHER!) THAT WILL HAVE TO INTERPRET THE VAGUE WORDING.
PLEASE VOTE "NO" ON ISSUE 1!!!!!
Ohio Issue 1: Proposed Amendment to the Ohio Constitution
Be it Resolved by the People of the State of Ohio:
That the Constitution of the State of Ohio be amended by adopting a section to be designated as Section 11 of Article XV thereof, to read as follows:
Article XV
Section 11. Only a union between one man and one woman may be a marriage valid in or recognized by this state and its political subdivisions. This state and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status for relationships of unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance or effect of marriage.

Also,
akshuman posted this and I about died, especially since my rider, Kevin, bought one of these things last night and it read, "Made in Taiwan" on the back.

Continuing with this stream of political shtuffses (see also "procrastination"~;P actually, no...I am waiting for something, so I am biding time. or something like that anyway),
jjjiii posted this and I found it kinda interesting, if not a bit scary: http://electoral-vote.caida.org/

Completely unrelated, I ♥ Scott Radke. I will own one of his puppets before I die, dammit!
Oh, and this picture gave me the best laughs today. reminded me a bit of amelie, to be quite honest.
And finally, Prof. Dr. med. Gunther von Hagens' Plastinates are on display in the USA right now, specifically in L.A.
regohemia and
icariancypher, if one or both of you don't go see this exhibit in my absence (because there's NO WAY I can make my way out to L.A. in the next few months to do so myself) I will be painfully disappointed in you. Yeah, I'll recover soon enough, but seriously..it took a helluva fight to get this exhibit to the U.S....you should totally go see it. It'll make for a good journal entry, if nothing else.~;D
OK, yeah...homework and shtuff.
Later, melatonin and Claude Debussy.
