I can almost remember my dreams from last night. I did this morning, but I woke up late, so I didn't have time to write them out. Oh well...

I finally heard from my folks last night. It was the first time they'd called me since I moved here. I know I'm an adult, but I dunno...I really do treasure the smallest gestures of kindness, even from family. My mom seemed in good spirits...no talking about her MS, or her leg problems, which I only know about because my dad told me about them. She won't tell me usually though because I worry so much about her.

I also spoke with [livejournal.com profile] wraptboy, who seemed to be doing OK, despite his smashed car. I am glad...I was pretty freaked out by the news he'd been in a wreck.

still no accompanist.
*sigh*

I am likely going to go back to the one who's asking for more than everyone, if she's still available. I so hate money.

Oh, and I got my choir dress today. Hideous is an understatement. We have a performance in two weeks at some church uptown. More info as I get it.

I will be singing in studio, diction, opera or recitals every week from here on out. I am excited and nervous...I've never learned so much repertoire in such a short amount of time. Dr. Pease and I worked on the French aria from Werther today...it's so pretty, but so damn sad! I finally finished reading the whole opera...incredibly depressing, but beautiful no less.

Speaking of singing, if anyone has a spare humidifier they'd be willing to donate temporarily, I'd be delighted and indebted to you. Seriously...they just turned the heat on in the dorms, and the air is SOOO DRYYY...My throat and sinuses are truly not happy right now.

Matthew Shepard's candlelight vigil is tonight. About an hour from now. Kate said she'll go with me, so that's cool. I have a project due tomorrow pretty early, and need to practice some on some songs. Meh...nevereverending....yay edumacashun!!!~8)

Hope everyone is doing well today...so many people on my mind right now.

Sometimes I'm out in the bustling street
Dazzled by all the faces I see
It strikes me, we get lost so soon after birth
But one smile can turn over heaven and earth

And it makes me float free
To feel how small my life must be...

to combat the dry air i always had a glass or two of water sitting around. depending on the type of heater, i've had people suggest getting a baking dish and keeping that filled with water and in front of or on the heater to get some moisture in the air. works well for me! :)

what kind of heat is it? electric baseboards? steam-heated radiators?

Umm, it's mounted under the window behind some wall, so I can't really tell. It doesn't seem to be steam though. Whyforhuh?

well, if it was an old fashioned radiator, I would suggest metal containers of water with soothing sweet herbs floating in them.
If it's electric baseboard heat, you could fold up a wet tea towel into a lasagne- sized pan *in front of* the heater, but not too close, and make sure the towel stays good and wet. That way you avoid fire hazards, while adding a little humidity to your room.

I meant that the pan of water and herbs could be placed directly on the radiator.
also, if it's an old-fashioned radiator, you could put a damp towel directly on the radiator until it's dry.

i don't have a humidifier but i have a vaporiser that you may have. i think the water with herbs is good. heated is better, like the old potporrie with a candle under it. just be sure to change the water every few days, standing water can be unhealthy as well.
