Let me start with this:

Hope: You dream of something better than
wherever you are now and believe that
eventually things will take a turn for the
better. Your main desire is to feel fulfilled.
What emotional state are you?

No, no cutting today. It's too lovely a quiz result to cut & hide away, thank you.
Amy and Rich showed up just after 7ish last night, complaining of how their butts were numb and how starved they were. Amy then noted how *normal* my hair looked, to which I told her "real-life" was keeping me from dying it these days (AKA no money, meeting important people as of late). She shrugged, said, "Eh, looks good!" and we carried on with our "I missed you"s and "How ya been"s. She and Rich walked over to Lincoln Park Pub shortly after arriving while I went over to sell my guitar to Patrick of
subliminal_self (thank you again!!!).
Met up with two people mowing down some serious food! Eventually,
bindrune and
wraptboy wandered over, as well as a smiling Daniel, and we all spent the next several hours talking and laughing. I gave in to temptation and ordered some of their spinach and artichoke dip, as well as guacamole...OMFDROOL! 'twas some goody-good, yup yup!
Amy decided we needed to go grocery shopping, so I navigated Rich to Ridge Rd. while Jay, Kelly and Daniel went back to Jawndomay to watch movies. When we got home, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was on the tele before Daniel and Kelly, Jay was on the 'puter, and the house had a feel of utter exhaustion about it. Amy led the slow wanderings to sleep, and the night ended with Kelly and me watching Dead Can Dance videos I suddenly discovered in my box set *smacks head* Funny, how we don't pay attention to things until we feel like it...very cool videos though. Aside from Toward the Within, the live filming of DCD, and "Yulunga {Spirit Dance}," which are both on the VHS, the DVD includes videos for some of their older works - "The Protagonist," "The Carnival is Over," "Frontier," and "The Host of Seraphim."
Probably my favorite of all the newly discovered videos was "The Carnival is Over." It made me think of Cirque du Soleil, and although it had a spooky side to it - most of these videos did to some extent - it also had a very beautiful, surrealistic perspective that made me want to do somersaults and dance on tight-ropes. It could happen ...my life's not over just yet!~;)
"Frontier" revealed Lisa Gerrard's incredible '80's hair...omfg. There are moments in this video where she looks like the Bride of Frankenstein, I swear! LOL
After watching all of these, I was reminded of my plan that never happened, and have decided to once again pursue it. I will eventually make a mix-tape of all their unreleased and rare songs from both the box set and the rare disc I bought back when I saw them in Lakewood. Man, that was SUCH a good show! I even have one of their playlists...oh yes, if there ever were a band I felt mildly obsessive toward, it was Dead Can Dance, although really, it's just Lisa Gerrard. I love all the music, but she is the closest thing to a hero I grasp in my world, musically. Lisa and Billie Holiday....~8)
Today we are all headed to Little Italy where Amy will show her hubby a very doctored-up bathroom in one of the shops, and she will wander from bakery to bakery, discouraging my diet ~;P and looking at pretty, quaint objects in all the shops. It's so good to have her here...I've known her since we were about 13, when I both scared the tar out of her and stood up for her in the lunchroom. I was a little bad-ass, if you can believe it! LOL Who knows, maybe someday I'll actually post some of the pics from when my hair was shaved on one side, "swooped" to the other and colored so many variants that Amy began calling me "Rainbow Bright."*smiles*
Tomorrow - taco Tuesday at Lincoln Park, then I drop them off at Nautica to see Modest Mouse while some of us wander up to a super-secret locale for a *free* show and a view to die for.
Wednesday, Blossom Music Center = Interpol, The Rapture, Mogwai and The Cure. Dennis, another friend from my life in VA ("...back in 'nam..."~;) will be driving up from D.C. to meet us there (although I think we're going to try to convince him to drive up tomorrow night instead), and we all plan on dancing the night away under the moon, singing old familiar tunes as well as newer familiar songs...
yeah, this week is gonna be the shizneedizzledadooo, yo.
