been a fairly good week. I could complain, but mostly it's just not worth the energy.

Soooo...last night, I went to Chammps and finally, FINALLY, won 1st place. It was my third try...I guess 3 is a charm!~8) I am in the finals on the 7th, 9PM. I get to go up against some damn fine singers, at least two of whom I have lost to on previous occasions. It would help if the place had a list worth singing, but the list is very limited, at best, so I may keep up my standards and hope that they work out in the end. Many many thankseses to wraptboy and nomadoh for coming out and supporting me! It was nice having you both there.~8)

I now have money to travel to AZ, but upon talking with AAA and looking at the maps and such, things aren't nearly as certain as I thought. Initially, I thought I would have to rent a car for a week, planning out 2-2.5 days of travel, 2-3 days of stay and then return. Upon closer inspection of the maps and talking with AAA, it seems I underguesstamated my travel-time, quite considerably. I will have to tlak with my da about it this weekend. My car just won't make it out there, I know that it won't, and flying is INSANELY expensive, not to mention Gabe doesn't have a car yet, so it would limit what we could do and where we could go. Not that I care much about exploring things out there, I just want to see and spend time with him before I move to Athens.~{8/

Tonight, Subliminal Self practice, very shortly as a matter of fact. I'd love to make it to batty_'s Bedlam Bowl at Yorktown Lanes, but I have to keep cash close right now, and $10 is a bit costly when I don't even bowl.~8( I hope everyone who does go has a blast though - admittedly, it'd be nice to hear batty_ DJing again. I really miss her.

Tomorrow - my friend Lori's band, _autonomy_, is playing at Maple Grove in Maple Heights at around 11PM. It's a rock band, and if her voice is any indication, it's damn good. I don't know the cost of admission, but I plan on heading out to support her and the crew. It'd be great if some others out there could come out as well, just to check them out and show support. She's been very supportive of many local musicians, so it'd be nice to show some return. Please let me know if you are interested...in the meantime, hopefully digitylgoddess can give us a little more 411 on price and shtuff.

Very early Saturday morning, bindrune and I will be heading out to the not-so-supah-secret location (no thanks to one of our local free papers...fuckers~>80) for the Spencer Tunick installation. I don't think I'll be sleeping at all tomorrow night, which is OK, as I can sleep in on Saturday. We might do breakfast after, so if anyone else out there is planning on being a part of this, maybe we could make it a group breakfast?

Later Saturday, I know some peeps are going to see the 9/11 movie that's got everyone's feathers in a fluff. I dunno...I might see it eventually, but right now I am just not interested enough to do so. I'd much rather go to Cinemateque and see the film by Walt Disney and Dali. Yes, cartoons over misery anyday, thank you.

Ah well...lots to do, not much time to do it. Life is moving right along at warp-speed, and I am falling behind much of the time. Everything is good though, really good. Finally feeling comfy in my changes, although I imagine that might change at any given moment; silly earth-signs we are...uprooting is not our high-point.

congrats on your 1st place win, it's about time.

i don't think i'll be able to get in, the rules are too screwy on when a second place winner can sing again, i believe it is a 30 day wait which works out to be five weeks cause four weeks is only 28 days. of course i didn't make note of my date, i hope they did.

anyway, good luck on the big win. one of my favorite songs you sing is angel, sooo pretty.

also, are you still doing the sunday and tuesday karaokes shows?

nope. Eddie lost the Sunday gig and replaced me for Tuesdays while I was in Italy. No biggie though...wasn't as much fun as I hoped it would be, and I was always so tired/ sore-throated from the smoke.

I won't say I'll look for you...I don't really want to look for anyone. I just kinda wanna do it for the experience of mass-vulnerability and lack of inhibitions. There's more to it than that, but yeah.

what's your plan for cutting through the southwest on your trip to AZ, particularly TX, NM, and CO? those are my old stomping grounds. used to spend a lot of time sitting out the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night between the texas border and roswell, new mexico looking for aliens.

Sorry so delayed in responding to this, but I wasn't sure of my travels at the time you wrote this, and I was so worried about jinxing my chances of even going...

I was originally going to head out to AZ via I-71 to 40, to 41 and then 17, but the car thing didn'twork out. I wound up flying out here, and have no vehicle to drive but am super-content just hanging out with Gabe, so cars aren't really necessary.~8)

It would be cool to hang out near Roswell though - that must have been something!
