After reading my gripes from yesterday, darling friend,
riverbank, sent me to an interesting site a la some radio pirates in her part of The Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. Seems some pirates are having all the fun near Clear Channel Worldwide's world Headquarters in San Antonio, TX.
But, the one very interesting tidbit I ran across on the site was this:
Clear Channel actually got stung twice yesterday: the FCC fined it $755,000 for the antics of Florida schlock-jock Bubba the Love Sponge. The amount may sound impressive, but some quick math belies the penalty. Based on the company's general revenue figures for 2003, Clear Channel makes that kind of money every 34 minutes.
FCC aside, CCWW needs to rot. Corporate cocksmugglers.
Oh, and thank you to everyone who cleared up my mistake...Mr. Stern wasn't cut, just suspended. Doesn't change the fact that censorship is in the midst of our world's insane power struggles, but yeah. Poor ol' Bubba down in FLA got the short end of the stick. Saddens me still when I consider how some of the radio shows will be void of some of the more entertaining subjects as a result of this madness.
