Everything I have heard from tricky's latest release, Vulnerable, is outstanding.
The song, "Mermaid," about rips my soul open with a pitchfork.

tricky, who did maxinquaye a bunch of years ago? i didn't like what followed that, but i liked a lot that was on that cd. if that's them (him?), how does it compare to the style of the one i mentioned?

well, it's a different feel than Maxinquaye, but each album has had a relatively different feel to it. There is a new female vocalist, since Martina Topley-Bird has her own solo album now (which is also wonderful, but not quite like Tricky's shtuff).

I would say this, along with his album, Blowback, is one of his more personally moody albums. Of course, I don't have to suffer through the rastafara-crap in this one! LOL

What other bands are you into? Maybe I can guage whether or not you'd be into it.

ok - i went to a place online & listened to the beginning of a few cuts of several tricky cd's...guess i liked "nearly god" pretty much but not many others. massive attack's "mezzanine" sounds like it'd be pretty good, as well as that one "she" compilation trip-hop cd (know about that one?).

otherwise i tend to listen to stuff more like dead can dance, vas, deep forest, enigma, but also leonard cohen, neil young, some moby, plus really a lot of other stuff i can't think of to name right now. i hate anything that has a real "pop" feel to it - that's one thing i know for sure. (i don't have any idea why people would say "enya" in the same sentence as "enigma" cuz what i've heard of enya just is like easy listening crap that i just can't listen to!)
