It's been raining since yesterday at about six.
I kinda like it...washing away the rest of the newness of my present world, almost symbolic, really. The fun part is that we have flash-flood warnings for the rest of the day! YAY!

seriously, I think this is cool.
And ya knw what???

I HAVE MY UMBRELLA AND JACKET THIS TIME, ATHENS!!!
HA HA HAAAAAA!!!

oh...heh. sorry.
Just remembering the rather wet feelings of orientation, and glad I am better prepared these days.

I woke up super-early to grab a shower before the rest of the gals in my hall. I changed my mind...Laura is really cool. She's kinda more of a hippy-earthy gal, super-friendly/ silly, and she likes trees, so she can't be all bad.~;) I showed her my tree tattoo last night after she asked about my necklace, a silver medallion with a tree carved into it for those who didn't know (Note: I was washing my face in the sink in the bathroom, face covered in soap and eyes shut in fear of soapy intrusion LOL She's all like, "Oooh, I like your necklace! Does it mean anything???" LOL), and she was super-impressed. She asked who drew it, and was very thrilled when I said I had. She then asked me if I was an artist, and I told her I mostly drew for catharsis, but that I had put some artwork out there. She is a violinist and a grad student. She asks more questions than I am used to being asked, which is probably better right now becasue I am fighting the shy-Dawn pretty strongly.

Anyway, the neighbor to my right, well, I didn't know I was going to have one, honestly. *notices sudden sense of deja-vu in typing the rest of this post...hrmm..* She moved in on Monday night, and has had a boy attached to her hip since. He's sleeping with her next door, and they have been super loud, be it music, arguments, etc. I figure it's just the initial move-in anxiety, but if it keeps up, they shall hear my wrath, oh yes.

My RA, Shea, is very cool. She's all about keeping us as a "community" on the 3rd and 4th floors. We had a meeting last night in the main room downstairs - you would have thought it was a life or death emergency, the way she bugged us to go! It was fun and thoughtful though. We each had name tags on our doors in puzzle shapes and were supposed to match our puzzle-pieces together with someone else in our hall. Well, whoever had my matching piece decided not to attend, so I wound up working with this guy, Tim, another *non-traditional* undergrad who, like me, felt his age yesterday. We were each asked to work together and come up with a skit where we would be a common appliance or something and the rest of the group would guess what we were. Tim and I were a computer, and it was fun. I had him use his one arm as a desk where the keyboard was, and his left hand was the mouse. I moved the mouse and typed on his arm, and he made faces...it was really kinda funny. Others were blenders, vacuums, cellphones (this one I didn't get, but it was funny to watch). I think it lessened the tension, which was Shea's goal in the first place. We all agreed to certain community rules re: noise (too bad my right-side neighbor didn't go...grrr), cleanliness, respect, safety, and called it a night.

So yeah, today. Today I thought I had Italian again at 10. I thought wrong, which wound up being good because I had the WORST headache when I woke up. It has been very hot and humid, and I guess I've been spoiled in Jawndomay with the AC and fans. My fan helps, but it is outside air, so the pollen and shtuff make their way in to my room. So, I took some excedrin and slept about another hour. Yay for naps!

I just finished setting up a direct deposit for my financial aid, which cannot get here soon enough! I so need my books. IN the meantime, the library will be my bestest of best friends. I talked with Mike Wankowski last night on IM, and he told me to tell Steve on the 4th floor of the library hi for him. I shall do this, and make new, strange friends.~8)

Many of you may notice the sudden belated replies. I have about twenty more to get through...my eyes are a bit zapped right now though, so I think I will go get some lunch and then go sing some.

Hope everyone is doing well. Things feel so...quiet...around me.
Except for the rain.
And Delerium.

The walk...

was great.

The sky is still incredibly drizzly, and we have flood warnings until 5 AM.
The roads were flooded all day. Drivers got kicks out of splooshing us innocent walkers. Thank goodness I was wearing my boots and have a god umbrella! HA!

*flips off st00pid drivers*

I got a li'l spooked walking down this brick road...[livejournal.com profile] bindrune, remember the one that had waterfalls during the rain at orientation? THAT one...but I got over myself and thought about Mary Poppins, and then classic films I should see, and how I always try to sing "Singing in the Rain," but never quite finish because I don't know the words...

Athens was very quiet walking to Brough. I saw a few random people, but the streets were relatively empty. I noticed a big clock tower on top of one of the dormatories, and wished I could hear it ticking...I love the sound of ticking clocks. Very peaceful to me.

I figured out that the second-floor doors are really easy to unlock, unlike the main floor doors. I am glad to know this. My life will be simpler now, as I cannot, for the LIFE of me, seem to get those other doors open.

Life is SOOO complex, I know.
~;P

Well, now that I have everyone's undivided attention...

Leave a comment if you want to know what I really think of you, and I’ll reply and tell you. No lies, all honesty...be prepared, for I shall give both the good AND the bad! Cuz I'm keen and brave and shtuff.
~;D

I triple-dawg dare ya.
heh.

I am being a good Dawn Dawn and only eating the salads and soups and other various good-for-you meals at the dining halls. Also snagging a lot of fruit for my room. I am encouraged by their menues, really. More proof that I shall no gain those fifteen pounds...YAY! Tonight I had french onion soup and a salad. Rather tasty, I must say!

I had faith in me all the time, honestly. This just makes things easier.
