Nov. 29th, 2002 06:18 pmI am at work. yep.
I am not working.
nope.
I played BINGO, colored, turned on the radio to Magic Oldies (because they seem to be the ONLY station NOT playing Christmas music already!)ate pizza, and passed medications, have made four pots of coffee, and taught the new staff how to do a fire drill.
I think I have done enough thank you.
My happy thought for the day:
darkest_eve is the coolest mommy ever for reading to her child instead of shoving her in front of the TV for hours on end. She just rawks for this.
When I do finally have kids, I don't think I'll allow them to watch TV till after they're like ten or something.
Maybe. Hell, I don't know what I'll do when I have kids. I just know what I won't do. But that's heavy, and I want to feel light for now.
In other news, while perusing my lj-child,
abstractions, I found the most interesting of people,
riverbank. Really good read, and witty too!
cornrow mullet...
(this killed me!)

So, is everyone going to la phantasy tonight?
I guess I will...been a while...need to do some serious dancing, methinks. Too much energy contained in these bones and muscles to sit still tonight.
Unless someone has a better idea...???

(((HUGZ!)))
ya know...
i felt horribly guilty when i first let her watch telly but i see it has not hurt her one bit... she is just three and already reads copiously on her own and with me. i think it is awesome to find another mommy who reads a lot to her child. kudos to you and don't feel bad about the pbs thing. it is educational and commercial free! :) plus it is nice knowing that telly is a last resort for her and generally not on unless she is sick, bored (in which case i know it is time for us to go play!!) or needing some time to relax on the sofa and cuddle up (and who doesn't want to do that on these chilly, gray days).
Re: ya know...
Date: 2002-12-04 08:04 pm (UTC)I cringed at it at first, as well.. until I saw that she was picking up some of the basic things she'd need for preschool on Barney.. and I'll be damned if that purple dinosaur didn't teach her some manners. It certainly helped me reinforce the "Please and Thank you" angle.. not because *I* said to, but because *Barney* said to. Why kids follow these icons, I'll never know. But it worked. :)
Re: ya know...
Date: 2002-12-05 07:36 am (UTC)but we do limit her and are going to be limiting her even more as we are finding as she gets older that the telly is becoming a "thing"... and something she feels quite entitled to whenever she wants it...
*sigh* it is so easy to get addicted to... sometimes i want to throw it right out the window.
