Yesterday when I opened my front door I came upon a wonderful surprise - a package from my best friend of 15 years! YAY! SHTUFF!!!
Funny too, I had just been contemplating how much I miss getting snail-mail from people. I like letters, and post cards thrill me too. I once told my friend to just say hi once in a while and let me know he's alive via mail. He sent me a single sheet of notebook paper that read, "Hi. I'm alive."
I loved it!!!
But so I opened the package and found several old photos from when we were teenagers in VA, some of her wedding pix with her hubby, a GORGEOUS windchime that I cannot descibe in writing at all, and little red book with hands on the front.
I *heart* hands!
There was a card inside too - no writing from her, just a beautiful little ditty about happiness. She knows I have been struggling with work and school and just finding myself the past few years, so reading this just warmed my heart:
happiness is a journey not a destination
for a long time it seemed to me that
life was about to begin - real life but
there was always some obstacle in the
way, something to be gotten through
first, some unfinished business, time
still to be served, a debt to be paid.
at last it dawned on me that these
obstacles were my life. this perspective
has helped me to see there is no way
to happiness. happiness is the way. so
treasure every moment you have and
remember that time waits for no one.
Yeah, she knows more than I give her credit for sometimes, I think.
Thank you, Ami. I love you, sweetie.

Re: that is sooo sweet!
Date: 2002-11-25 05:40 pm (UTC)Ami is the best...very very sweet. She never write much of anything, but it's because of dyslexia, so I don't mind really. The card about happiness was blank, but danm it said so much. It was perfect, really.
BTW...I wish I didn't have to work so late tonight/ get up so early tomorrow or I'd join ya for tacos. *sigh*
Oh well...winter break soon enough, I guess!
Re: that is sooo sweet!

Re: tacos, stalkers and the like
Date: 2002-11-25 08:20 pm (UTC)and umm... what is The Box? i am dying to know now!!
Re: The Box
As for The Box.
It's made of some sort of metal or something heavy anyway. It's silver with lots of pretty butterfly and dragonfly stickers on it. Also, some local bands, and on the bottom, there are two that read, independently of one another (though strategically placed) "Snatch Control."
My mom gave it to me a few years back for Christmas, telling me it'd make a neat purse (it's actually a make-up box). She then threw in that it's prolly hurt someone a lot if I had to use it in self-defense.
This was, incidentally, during the time I had a restraining order on a stalker in Lakewood.
Everyone who knows me associates it to me, so now you can to! For the small price of $19.95 (+ tax = $20.00 even - we make things simple here!) you can have some crazy, unimportant association to the Dawn-Dawn today! Order yours NOW!!!
Oh, umm...sorry.
Hit the crackpipe a li'l early today!~;P
